The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Vaupel, Frederick, Alexander, Calley, Hornberger, Lower, Whiteford, Afendoulis, Filler, Mueller, Wozniak, Liberati, Garrett, Clemente, Ellison, Koleszar, Pohutsky, Stone, Witwer. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Lower moved to adopt the meeting minutes from November 5, 2020. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5297 before the committee: HB 5297 (Rep. Hornberger) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," (MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1176. Dr. Roger Seelye, representing the Michigan Optometric Association, testified in support of HB 5297. Representative Hornberger testified in support of HB 5297. The following people submitted a card in opposition to HB 5297, but did not wish to speak: Jennifer Smith, representing the Michigan Association of School Boards. MacDonald) A bill to allow certain law enforcement officers and firefighters to administer auto-injectable epinephrine in certain circumstances; to provide access to auto-injectable epinephrine by eligible entities, law enforcement officers, and firefighters; and to limit civil and criminal liability of certain entities and individuals. SB 417 (Sen. Lucido) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled "Public health code," by amending sections 17744a and 17744d (MCL 333.17744a and 333.17744d), section 17744a as amended and section 17744d as added by 2015 PA 221. Senator MacDonald testified in support of SB 843, SB 844, SB 418 and SB 417. Questions and discussion followed.
