BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2420 FAX: (517) 373-2764 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 6, 2019 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Insurance and Banking was scheduled for Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 8:30 a.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Presentation by Eric Lupher, of the Citizens Research Council, regarding the history of no-fault insurance in the state of Michigan. 2. Adopted the Committee Rules. The Chairwoman called the meeting to order at 8:31 a.m. At 8:31 a.m., the Chairwoman recessed the committee. At 8:40 a.m., the Chairwoman reconvened the committee. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chairwoman Theis, Sen.(s) Lauwers, LaSata, Nesbitt, and Daley, a quorum was not present The Chairwoman invited Eric Lupher, of the Citizens Research Council of Michigan, to give a presentation on the history of no-fault insurance in the state of Michigan. At 8:43 a.m., Sens. Bullock, Geiss and Barrett entered the meeting. At 9:10 a.m., Sen. Lauwers left the meeting and did not return. At 9:27 a.m., Sen. Daley left the meeting and did not return. The Chairwoman entertained a motion by Sen. Geiss to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sens. Horn and McMorrow were excused from the meeting. The Chairwoman entertained a motion by Sen. LaSata to adopt the committee rules. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chairwoman Theis, Sen.(s) LaSata, Nesbitt, Barrett, Geiss, and Bullock. Nays: None. Page 1 of 2 There being no further business before the committee, the Chairwoman moved to adjourn the committee.
