BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7670 FAX: (517) 373-5958 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 28, 2019 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety was scheduled for Thursday, February 28, 2019, at 8:30 a.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 29 (Sen. Lucido). 2. Testimony regarding SB 30 (Sen. Lucido). 3. Testimony regarding SB 81 (Sen Lucido). 4. Testimony regarding SB 112 (S-2) (Sen. Lucido). The Chairman called the meeting to order at 8:33 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chairman Lucido, Sen.(s) VanderWall, Barrett, Johnson, Runestad, Chang, and Irwin, a quorum was present. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. VanderWall to adopt the meeting minutes from February 14, 2019. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chairman summarized SBs 29 and 30. The cards were read of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SBs 29 and 30: Brandon Lanyon, Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan – Support The Chairman summarized SB 81. The cards were read of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 81: Chris Gerard, Michigan State Police – Support Robin Schneider, Michigan Cannabis Industry Association – Support The Chairman offered, and summarized, an (S-2) version of SB 112. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Johnson to adopt the (S-2) version of SB 112. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chairman Lucido, Sen.(s) VanderWall, Barrett, Johnson, Runestad, Chang, and Irwin Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-2) was adopted. The cards were read of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 112: Page 1 of 2 Jim Kirsch, Property Management Association of Michigan – Support Tabitha Zimny, Apartment Association of Michigan – Support Jim Schaafsma, Michigan Poverty Law Program – Neutral There being no further business before the committee, the Chairman moved to adjourn the meeting.
