BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2420 FAX: (517) 373-2764 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES March 20, 2019 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Insurance and Banking was scheduled for Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at 8:30 a.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Presentation by Terri Miller, formerly of various insurance organizations, regarding the Michigan Automobile Insurance Placement Facility (MAIPF) and the Assigned Claims Plan. 2. Presentation by Michael Ouding and Richanrd Bates, of State Farm Insurance, regarding fraudulent insurance claims made in Michigan. The Chair called the meeting to order at 8:36 a.m. She instructed the clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Theis, Sen.(s) Lauwers, LaSata, Nesbitt, Daley, Barrett, Horn, Geiss, Bullock, and McMorrow, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Nesbitt to adopt the meeting minutes from March 13, 2019. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Terri Miller, formerly of various insurance organizations, to present regarding the Michigan Automobile Insurance Placement Facility (MAIPF) and the Assigned Claims Plan. The Chair invited Michael Ouding and Richard Bates, of State Farm Insurance, to present regarding fraudulent insurance claims made in Michigan. Due to time constraints, the following individuals were unable to present testimony: Tom Rahn, ABATE of Michigan Vince Consiglio, ABATE of Michigan Gary Kopta, ABATE of Michigan Butch Brown, ABATE of Michigan Jim Rhoades, ABATE of Michigan There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
