- COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES April 23, 2019 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Regulatory Reform was scheduled for Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at 3:00 p.m., in the 1200 Room of the Binsfeld Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 239 (Sen. Chang) with recommendation and immediate effect. The Chairman called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chairman Nesbitt, Sen.(s) Theis, Lauwers, VanderWall, Zorn, Moss, Polehanki, and Wojno; a quorum was present. The Chairman moved to adopt the meeting minutes from March 19, 2019. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chairman moved to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Johnson was excused from the meeting. The Chairman invited Sen. Chang to summarize SB 239. The Chairman invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 239: Mark Evely, Wayne State University School of Mortuary – Support The Chairman recessed the committee from 3:07 p.m. to 3:08 p.m. The Chairman asked the Clerk to read the testimony cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 239: Bob Hubble, Sci-Michigan – Support Marnie Wills, Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Agency – Support Phil Douma, Michigan Funeral Directors Association – Support The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Moss to report SB 239 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chairman Nesbitt, Sen.(s) Theis, Lauwers, VanderWall, Zorn, Moss, Polehanki, and Wojno Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. MEMBERS: SEN. LANA THEIS, VICE CHAIR SEN. RUTH JOHNSON SEN. DAN LAUWERS SEN. CURTIS S. VANDERWALL SEN. DALE ZORN SEN. JEREMY MOSS, MINORITY VICE CHAIR SEN. DAYNA POLEHANKI SEN. PAUL WOJNO THE SENATE COMMITTEE ON REGULATORY REFORM SENATOR ARIC NESBITT CHAIR 6100 BINSFELD BUILDING P.O.
