BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2426 FAX: (517) 373-2964 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES May 15, 2019 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Families, Seniors, and Veterans was scheduled for Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at 3:00 p.m., in the 1200 Room of the Binsfeld Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported HB 4304 (Rep. Vaupel) with recommendation and immediate effect. 2. Reported HB 4305 (Rep. Vaupel) with recommendation and immediate effect. 3. Presentation by Harold Mast, Clare Luz, and Ryan Cowmeadow, of the Area Agency on Aging, Impart Alliance, and 4AM, respectively. The Chairman called the meeting to order at 3:07 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chairman Bizon, Sen.(s) Barrett, Runestad, Johnson, Zorn, Bullock, and Alexander; a quorum was present. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Runestad to adopt the meeting minutes from May 8, 2019. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chairman invited Rep. Vaupel to summarize HBs 4304 and 4305 The Chairman invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding HBs 4304 and 4305: Michael Adrian, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services – Support The Chairman read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HBs 4304 and 4305: Sandy Erskine, Friend of the Court Association – Support The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Alexander to report HB 4304 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chairman Bizon, Sen.(s) Barrett, Runestad, Johnson, Zorn, Bullock, and Alexander Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chairman moved to recommend immediate effect for HB 4304. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. Page 1 of 2 The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Barrett to report HB 4305 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chairman Bizon, Sen.(s) Barrett, Runestad, Johnson, Zorn, Bullock, and Alexander Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chairman moved to recommend immediate effect for HB 4305. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chairman invited Harold Mast, of the Area Agency on Aging, Clare Luz, of Impart Alliance, and Ryan Cowmeadow, of 4AM, to deliver a presentation.
