BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7708 FAX: (517) 373-1450 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES June 4, 2019 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Energy and Technology was scheduled for Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at 2:00 p.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported HB 4249 (Rep. Hoitenga) with recommendation and immediate effect. The Chairman called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chairman Lauwers, Sen.(s) Horn, LaSata, Nesbitt, Barrett, Bumstead, Outman, McCann, Brinks, and McMorrow; a quorum was present. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Outman to adopt the meeting minutes from May 21, 2019. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chairman invited Ken Morin, staff of Rep. Hoitenga, to summarize HB 4249. The Chairman invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding HB 4249: Amanda Fischer, NFIB – Neutral Lisa Hall, Midland County 911 and Michigan Communication Director's Association – Neutral The Chairman read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 4249: Trooper Nicole McGhee, Michigan State Police – Neutral Harriet Rennie-Brown, State 911 Committee – Neutral Stephanie Johnson, Michigan Association of Fire Chiefs – Support The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Horn to report HB 4249 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chairman Lauwers, Sen.(s) Horn, LaSata, Nesbitt, Barrett, Bumstead, Outman, McCann, Brinks, and McMorrow Nays: None. Page 1 of 2 The chairman moved to recommend immediate effect for HB 4249. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. There being no further business before the committee, the Chairman moved to adjourn the committee.
