BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-3760 FAX: (517) 373-8661 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES June 4, 2019 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Environmental Quality was scheduled for Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., in the 1200 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 255 (Sen. LaSata). 2. Presentation by the Drinking Water and Environmental Health Division of the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy regarding the Division and its responsibilities. 3. Presentation by the American Water Works Association regarding an overview of the Association and the critical issues it is working on. The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Outman, Sen.(s) Daley, Johnson, VanderWall, McBroom, Bayer, and Brinks, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. VanderWall to adopt the meeting minutes from April 23, 2019. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Sen. LaSata to summarize SB 255. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 255: Doug Needham, Michigan Aggregate Association – Support Aaron Keatley and MaryAnn Dolehanty, Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 255: Thomas Gilpin, Michigan Sierra Club – Neutral Mike Johnston, Michigan Manufacturers Association – Support Page 1 of 2 The Chair invited Aaron Keatly, Chief Deputy Director of EGLE, and Assistant Division Director Amy Lachance to give a presentation providing an overview of the Drinking Water and Environmental Health Division of the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy. The Chair invited Bonnifer Ballard and Pat Staskiewicz, of the Michigan Section of the American Water Works Association, to give a presentation regarding an overview Association and the critical issues it is working on. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
