BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX: (517) 373-3932 **DRAFT** COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES June 19, 2019 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources was scheduled for Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at 8:30 a.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 35 (Sen. Vanderwall). 2. Testimony regarding SB 366 (Sen. McBroom). 3. Testimony regarding SB 367 (Sen. VanderWall). The Chairman called the meeting to order at 8:32 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chairman McBroom, Sen.(s) Bumstead, Outman, Schmidt, and McCann, a quorum was present. The Chairman invited the committee to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The Chairman invited Sen. VanderWall to summarize SB 35. Member questions followed. The Chairman invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 35:  Craig Brunet, Michigan Department of Natural Resources – oppose. Member questions followed.  Ian Fitzgerald, Michigan United Conservation Clubs – oppose. Member questions followed. The Chairman read the cards of those individuals not wishing to present testimony regarding SB 35:  Erik Schnelle, Michigan Quality Deer Management Association – oppose.  George Lindquist, U.P. Whitetails of Marquette County – oppose. Testifying remotely from Escanaba, Michigan, the Chairman invited the following individual to present testimony regarding SB 35:  Al Ettenhoffer, U.P. Whitetails – oppose. Next on the agenda was SB’s 336 (Sen. McBroom) and SB 337 (Sen. VanderWall) The Chairman requested the Vice Chairman to conduct the meeting while he presented testimony on SB 336. Sen. McBroom and Sen. VanderWall summarized SB’s 336 and 337. Member questions followed. The Chairman continued the meeting, invited the following individuals to present testimony remotely from Escanaba, Michigan, regarding SB’s 336 and 337:  Dale McNamee, Citizen – support.  Al Ettenhoffer, U.P. Whitetails – support. Member questions followed. The Chairman read the card of the individual not wishing to present testimony regarding SB’s 336 and 337:  Mike Thormen, Michigan Hunting Dog Federation – support. The Chairman invited the following individual to present testimony regarding SB’s 336 and 337:  Craig Brunet, Michigan Department of Natural Resources – oppose. Member questions followed. Testifying remotely from Escanaba, Michigan, the Chairman invited the following individual to present testimony regarding SB’s 336 and 337:  Ken Buckholtz, National Wild Turkey Federation – support. The Chairman invited Craig Brunet, of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, to return to address member questions. Returning to SB 35, the Chairman invited the following individual to present testimony remotely from Escanaba, Michigan:  Ken Buckholtz, National Wild Turkey Federation – support. The Chairman entertained a motion from Sen. Bumstead to adopt the committee meeting minutes from May 22, 2019. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. There being no further business before the committee, the Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Bumstead to adjourn the committee.
