Gast Senate Appropriations Room of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Adopted tuition reciprocity agreement. 2. Reported SB 151, SB 152, & SB 154 (Sen. Stamas) with recommendation and immediate effect. 3. Reported SB 438 – SB 446 with recommendation and immediate effect. 4. Reported SB 447 (S-1) (Sen. Hertel) with recommendation and immediate effect. 5. Reported SB 450 – SB 451 with recommendation and immediate effect. 6. Reported SB 452 (Sen. Stamas) with recommendation and immediate effect. The Chairman called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present; Chairman Stamas, Sen.(s) Bumstead, MacGregor, Barrett, Bizon, LaSata, MacDonald, Nesbitt, Outman, Runestad, Schmidt, Victory, Hertel, Hollier, Santana, McCann, and Bayer, a quorum was present. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Hertel, supported by Sen. Stamas, to excuse absent members from the committee meeting. Without objection, Sen. Irwin was excused from the committee meeting. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Bumstead, supported by Sen. Schmidt, to adopt the committee meeting minutes from June 12, 2019. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. Next, the Chairman invited Rep. Vaupel and Mike DeRose, Human Resource Director at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, to summarize HB 5156. Next, the Chairman invited Jeff Cassidy, of the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, and Dr. Kojo Quartey, President of Monroe Community College, to present testimony regarding the tuition reciprocity agreement between Monroe County Community College, University of Toledo, and Owens Community College. The Chairman entertained a motion from Sen. LaSata, supported by Sen. Hertel, to adopt the tuition reciprocity agreement between Monroe County Community College, University of Toledo, and Owens Community College.
