BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7670 FAX: (517) 373-5958 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES August 29, 2019 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety was scheduled for Thursday, August 29, 2019, at 8:30 a.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 110 (Sen. Lucido). 2. Testimony regarding SB 108 (Sen. Lucido). 3. Testimony regarding SB 109 (Sen. Lucido). 4. Testimony regarding SB 412 (Sen. Lucido). 5. Testimony regarding SB 413 (Sen. Lucido). The Chairman called the meeting to order at 8:41 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chairman Lucido, Sen.(s) VanderWall, Johnson and Chang, a quorum was present. The Chairman moved to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen.(s) Barrett, Runestad, and Irwin were excused from the meeting. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. VanderWall to adopt the meeting minutes from June 13, 2019. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. At 8:43 a.m., Sen. Runestad entered the meeting. At 8:44 a.m., Sen. Irwin entered the meeting. The Chairman summarized SB 110. The Chairman invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 110: Lisa Sullivan, Michigan Probate Judges Association – support. Alison Hirschel, Michigan Elder Justice Initiative – support. The Chairman read the card of the individual not wishing to present testimony regarding SB 110: Sgt. Nicole McGhee, Michigan State Police – neutral. At 8:44 a.m., Sen. Barrett entered the meeting. The Chairman summarized SB 108, SB 109, SB 412 and SB 413. The Chairman invited the following individual to present testimony regarding SB 108, SB 109, SB 412 and SB 413: Derek Miller, Macomb County Prosecutors Office – support. The Chairman read the cards of those individuals not wishing to present testimony regarding SB 108 and SB 109: Sgt. Nicole McGhee, Michigan State Police – neutral. Brandon Lanyon, Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan – support. The Chairman read the cards of those individuals not wishing to present testimony regarding SB 412 and SB 413: Sgt. Nicole McGhee, Michigan State Police – neutral. Dave Worthams, Michigan Bankers Association- support. The Chairman moved to adjourn the meeting.
