BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2426 FAX: (517) 373-2964 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES September 11, 2019 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Families, Seniors and Veterans was scheduled for Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at 3:00 p.m., in the 1200 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 466 (Sen. Bizon) with recommendation and immediate effect. 2. Reported SB 467 (Sen. Bullock) with recommendation and immediate effect. 3. Reported SB 468 (S-1) (Sen. Bizon) with recommendation and immediate effect. 4. Reported SB 469 (Sen. Bullock) with recommendation and immediate effect. 5. Reported HB 4549 (S-1) (Rep. The Chair called the meeting to order at 3:05 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. Barrett to adopt the meeting minutes from September 4, 2019. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Barrett to report SB 466 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Bizon, Sen.(s) Barrett, Johnson, Zorn, Bullock, and Alexander Nays: None Pass: Sen. Runestad The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for SB 466. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Barrett to report SB 467 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Bizon, Sen.(s) Barrett, Runestad, Johnson, Zorn, Bullock, and Alexander Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for HB 4550. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SCR 11: Sen. Ed McBroom, Michigan Senate – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SCR 11: Mark Sutton, American Legion – Support Fred Schaible, MVAA – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Barrett to report SCR 11 to the floor with recommendation that it be adopted. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Bizon, Sen.(s) Barrett, Runestad, Johnson, Zorn, Bullock, and Alexander Nays: None The motion prevailed and the concurrent resolution was reported. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
