BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-1760 FAX: (517) 373-3487 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES October 3, 2019 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Economic and Small Business Development was scheduled for Thursday, October 3, 2019, at 12:00 noon, in the 1200 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 432 (Sen. Horn). 2. Reported SR 73 (S-1) (Sen. Victory) with recommendation. The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:01 p.m. He instructed the clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Horn, Sen.(s) VanderWall, MacGregor, Theis, Lauwers, Schmidt, McMorrow, Geiss, and Moss, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. VanderWall to adopt the meeting minutes from September 12, 2019. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 432: Dave Greco and Mark Morante, MEDC – Support Ernest Essaud, Michigan Research Institute – Support The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SR 73: Delaney McKinley, Michigan Manufacturers Association – Support Dex Battista, Magna International – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SR 73: Brad Williams, Detroit Regional Chamber – Support Rebecca Park, Michigan Farm Bureau – Support Jason Puscas, MICHauto – Support John Dulmes, Michigan Chemistry Council – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. VanderWall to adopt the (S-1) version of SR 73. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Horn, Sen.(s) VanderWall, MacGregor, Theis, Lauwers, Schmidt, McMorrow, Geiss, Moss. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. Page 1 of 2 The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Schmidt to report the (S-1) version of SR 73 to the floor with recommendation that it be adopted. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Horn, Sen.(s) VanderWall, MacGregor, Theis, Lauwers, Schmidt. Nays: None Pass: Sen.(s) McMorrow, Geiss, Moss. The motion prevailed and the resolution was reported. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
