BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-1760 FAX: (517) 373-3487 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES October 10, 2019 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Economic and Small Business Development was scheduled for Thursday, October 10, 2019, at 12:00 noon, in the 1200 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 432 (Sen. Horn) with recommendation and immediate effect. 2. Testimony regarding SB 384 (Sen. Geiss) 3. Testimony regarding SB 385 (Sen. Barrett). The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:02 p.m. He instructed the clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Horn, Sen.(s) VanderWall, MacGregor, Theis, Lauwers, Schmidt, McMorrow, Geiss and Moss, a quorum was present. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 432: Judy Allen, Michigan Township Association – Oppose Jen Rigterink, MML – Oppose The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Schmidt to report SB 432 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Horn, Sen.(s) VanderWall, MacGregor, Theis, Lauwers, Schmidt. Nays: Sen. McMorrow. Pass: Sen.(s) Geiss, Moss. The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for SB 432. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 384 and SB 385: Kevin Callahan, Stub Hub – Support Chris VanDehoef, Fan Freedom – Support Michael O'Neill, Vivid Seats – Support Carl Szabo, Net Choice – Support Dusty Brighton, Live Nation – Oppose Bruce Morris, Ticket Network, Inc – Neutral The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 384 and SB 385: Sen. Ed McBroom, Michigan Senate – Support Page 1 of 2 Jarrod Bradford, MSU Wharton Center – Oppose There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
