BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-3543 FAX: (517) 373-0927 **DRAFT** COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES October 10, 2019 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Local Government was scheduled for Thursday, October 10, 2019, at 1:30 p.m., in the 1200 Room of the Binsfeld Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported HB 4209 (Rep. Slagh) with recommendation and immediate effect. 2. Reported HB 4408 (S-1) (Rep. Miller) with recommendation and immediate effect. The Chairman called the meeting to order at 1:31 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chairman Zorn, Sen.(s) Johnson, Daley, Alexander, and Moss; a quorum was present. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Moss to adopt the meeting minutes from October 3, 2019. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chairman invited Eric Dean, of Rep. Slagh's office, and a special guest constituent, to summarize HB 4209. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Daley to report HB 4209 to the floor with recommendation that is pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chairman Zorn, Sen.(s) Johnson, Daley, Alexander, and Moss Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chairman moved to recommend immediate effect for HB 4209. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chairman brought up the (S-1) version of HB 4408 which was adopted during the October 3, 2019 committee hearing. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Johnson to report HB 4408 (S-1) to the floor with recommendation that is pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chairman Zorn, Sen.(s) Johnson, Daley, Alexander, and Moss Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chairman moved to recommend immediate effect for HB 4408 (S-1). Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. There being no further business before the committee, the Chairman moved to adjourn the committee. Without objection, the committee was adjourned at 1:37 p.m. Date Adopted by Committee: 10/31/19
