BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7946 FAX: (517) 373-2678 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES January 15, 2020 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Appropriations was scheduled for Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at 2:00 p.m., in the Harry T. Gast Senate Appropriations Room of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 693 (Sen. Lauwers) with recommendation and immediate effect. The Chairman called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present; Chairman Stamas, Sen.(s) Bumstead, MacGregor, Barrett, Bizon, LaSata, Nesbitt, Outman, Runestad, Schmidt, Victory, Hollier, Irwin, Santana, McCann, and Bayer, a quorum was present. The Chairman moved, supported by Sen. MacGregor, to excuse absent members from the committee meeting. Without objection, Sen.(s) MacDonald and Hertel were excused. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Schmidt, supported by Sen. LaSata, to adopt the committee meeting minutes from December 11, 2019. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chairman invited Sen. Lauwers to summarize SB 693 for the committee. Sen. Lauwers was joined by Travis Jones, Chief Financial Officer and Paul Anderson, Chief Credit Officer as Greenstone Farm Credit Services. The Chairman read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify regarding SB 693: Rebecca Park, Michigan Farm Bureau – Support Justin Clement, Michigan Credit Union – Support The Chairman entertained a motion from Sen. Victory, supported by Sen. Outman, to report SB 693 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chairman Stamas, Sen.(s) Bumstead, MacGregor, Barrett, Bizon, LaSata, Nesbitt, Outman, Runestad, Schmidt, Victory, Hollier, Irwin, McCann, and Bayer Nays: Sen. Santana The bill was reported. The Chairman made a motion, supported by Sen. Nesbitt to recommend immediate effect for SB 693. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. There being no further business before the committee, the Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Bumstead, supported by Sen. Santana, to adjourn the committee.
