BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2426 FAX: (517) 373-2964 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES January 15, 2020 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Families, Seniors and Veterans was scheduled for Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at 3:00 p.m., in the 1200 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported HB 4128 (Rep. Aaron Miller) with recommendation and immediate effect. 2. Reported HB 4152 (S-2) (Rep. Johnson) with recommendation and immediate effect. 3. Reported HB 4153 (Rep. Vanessa Guerra) with recommendation and immediate effect. The Chair called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Bizon, Sen.(s) Barrett, Runestad, Johnson, Zorn, Bullock and Alexander, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Runestad to adopt the meeting minutes from December 4, 2019. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bullock to report HB 4128 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Bizon, Sen.(s) Barrett, Runestad, Johnson, Zorn, and Bullock. Nays: Sen. Alexander. The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for HB 4128. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 4152 and HB 4153(H-2): Jean Doss, Michigan State Council of Junior Leagues – Support Bill Zaagman, Michigan Association of County Clerks – Support Meghann Keit, Michigan Association of Counties – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Barrett to adopt the (S-2) version of HB 4152. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Bizon, Sen.(s) Barrett, Runestad, Johnson, Zorn, Bullock, and Alexander. Nays: None Page 1 of 2 The motion prevailed and the (S-2) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Barrett to report the (S-2) version of HB 4152 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Bizon, Sen.(s) Barrett, Runestad, Johnson, Zorn, Bullock, and Alexander. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for HB 4152 (S-2). Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Alexander to report HB 4153 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Bizon, Sen.(s) Barrett, Runestad, Johnson, Zorn, Bullock, and Alexander. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for HB 4153. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
