BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-1725 FAX: (517) 373-0741 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES January 16, 2020 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Health Policy and Human Services was scheduled for Thursday, January 16, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 599 (Sen. McBroom). 2. Testimony regarding SB 281 (Sen. MacGregor). 3. Testimony regarding HB 4830 (Rep. Schroeder). The Chair called the meeting to order at 11:02 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair VanderWall, Sen.(s) Bizon, Johnson, LaSata, Theis, Brinks, Hertel, Santana, and Wojno, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bizon to adopt the meeting minutes from January 8, 2020. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Sen. McBroom to summarize SB 599. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 599: Carlos Gutierrez, Consumer Healthcare Products Association – Support Emily Schwarzkopf, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services – Support Brian Sapita, Michigan Pharmacists Association – Support The Chair invited Sen. MacGregor to summarize SB 281. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 281: Dr. Megan Edison, Michigan State Medical Society – Support Page 1 of 2 The Chair invited Rep. Schroeder to summarize HB 4830. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 4830: Stephanie Johnson, Michigan Association of Fire Chiefs – Support Emily Schwarzkopf, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services – Support Bret Marr, Michigan Association of Ambulance Services – Support Herasanna Richards, Michigan Municipal League – Support The Chair made a motion to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. MacDonald was excused from the meeting. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
