BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2426 FAX: (517) 373-2964 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES January 22, 2020 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Families, Seniors and Veterans was scheduled for Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at 3:00 p.m., in the 1200 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported HCR 2 (Rep. Hank Vaupel) with recommendation. The Chairman called the meeting to order at 3:02 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Bizon, Sen.(s) Barrett, Runestad, Johnson, Zorn, Bullock and Alexander, a quorum was present. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Zorn to adopt the meeting minutes from January 15, 2020. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chairman invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding HCR 2: Cindy Denby, Office of State Representative Hank Vaupel – Support Rick Murdock, Michigan Association of Health Plans Foundation – Support James Gallant, Marquette County Suicide Prevention Coalition – Support The Chairman read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HCR 2: Jennifer Smith, Michigan Association of School Boards – Support The Chairman made a motion to report HCR 2 to the floor with recommendation that it be adopted. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Bizon, Sen.(s) Barrett, Johnson, Zorn, Bullock, and Alexander. Nays: None Pass: Sen. Runestad. The motion prevailed and the concurrent resolution was reported. The Chairman invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding Section 511 PA 207 of 2018: Mary Chaliman, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Page 1 of 2 There being no further business before the committee, the Chairman moved to adjourn the committee.
