The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding HB 4862 (Rep. Wozniak). 2. Reported SB 281 (Sen. MacGregor) with recommendation and immediate effect. 3. Reported SB 599 (Sen. McBroom) with recommendation and immediate effect. 4. Reported HB 4830 (Rep. Schroeder) with recommendation and immediate effect. 5. Testimony regarding HB 5043 (Rep. Vaupel). 6. Testimony regarding HB 5044 (Rep. Garrett). 7. Testimony regarding SB 77 (S-1) (Sen. Runestad). The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:03 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair VanderWall, Sen.(s) Bizon, Johnson, MacDonald, Theis, Brinks, Hertel, Santana, and Wojno, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bizon to adopt the meeting minutes from January 16, 2020. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Griff Drew, of Rep. Wozniak's office, to summarize HB 4862. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding HB 4862: Amy Morrison-Maybee, Bronson Health Care Group – Support Tyler Gibb, WMU School of Medicine – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 4862: Kimberly Burr, Bronson Hospital and Health Care Group – Support Jennie Gies, Michigan Nurses Association – Support Sam Champagne, Henry Ford Health System – Support Sean Sorenson-Abbott – Michigan Health and Hospital Association – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 281: Dalton Herbel, Leading Age Michigan – Support The Chair recessed the committee from 1:28 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Page 1 of 3 The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Theis to report SB 281 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. Bizon to report SB 599 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for SB 599. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Theis to report HB 4830 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for HB 4830. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chair offered, and summarized, a VanderWall amendment to HB 5043. The Chair made a motion to adopt the VanderWall amendment to HB 5043. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair VanderWall, Sen.(s) Bizon, Johnson, MacDonald, Theis, Brinks, Hertel, Santana, and Wojno Nays: None The motion prevailed and the amendment was adopted. The Chair invited Cindy Denby, of Rep. Vaupel's office, to summarize HB 5043 and HB 5044. The Chair invited Sen. Runestad to summarize SB 77.
