BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7670 FAX: (517) 373-5958 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 13, 2020 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Advice and Consent was scheduled for Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 12:00 noon., in the 1200 Room of the Binsfeld Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. A hearing to consider the appointment of Mr. Samuel Bagenstos to the Michigan Employment Relations Commission. 2. A hearing to consider the appointment of Mrs. Zinna Faraj Elhasan and Ms. Portia L. Roberson to the Michigan Civil Rights Commission. The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:05 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Lucido, Sen.(s) LaSata, Nesbitt, McBroom and Hertel, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Nesbitt to adopt the meeting minutes from the February 6, 2020 meeting. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Mr. Samuel Bagenstos to provide the committee with his introductory statement. Member questions followed. The committee went at ease at 12:34 p.m. to allow Chair Lucido and Sen. McBroom to attend another committee. Vice Chair LaSata reconvened the meeting at 12:34 p.m. to continue testimony. The Vice Chair invited Zinna Faraj Elhasan and Ms. Portia L. Roberson to provide the committee with their introductory statements. Member questions followed. The committee went at ease at 12:44 p.m. and with all members present, Chair Lucido reconvened the meeting at 12:44 p.m. to continue testimony. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the meeting. Without objection, the committee was adjourned at 1:31 p.m. Date Adopted by Committee: 02/20/2020
