BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-1725 FAX: (517) 373-0741 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 13, 2020 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Health Policy and Human Services was scheduled for Thursday, February 13, 2020, at 1:00 p.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 612 (Sen. VanderWall). 2. Presentation regarding Congenital Heart Disease. The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:01 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair VanderWall, Sen.(s) Bizon, Johnson, LaSata, MacDonald, Theis, Brinks, Hertel, Santana, and Wojno, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bizon to adopt the meeting minutes from February 6, 2020. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 612: Dr. John Roarty, Michigan Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons – Support Dr. Eric Gratias and Matt Ness, Evicore – Oppose Susan Pigg, Citizen – Support Julie Greene, Orthopedic Associates of Muskegon – Support Lisa Pearson, Michigan Pain Consultants – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 612: Toby Lyon-Moore, American Nurses Association of Michigan – Support Matt Patton, Detroit Regional Chamber – Oppose Page 1 of 2 The Chair invited Dr. John Charpie, of the University of Michigan's Congenital Heart Center, and Ben Bodkin, to give a presentation regarding congenital heart defects. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
