MALLORY MCMORROW THE SENATE COMMITTEE ON ENERGY AND TECHNOLOGY SENATOR DAN LAUWERS CHAIR S-2 CAPITOL BUILDING P.O BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7708 FAX: (517) 373-1450 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 18, 2020 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Energy and Technology was scheduled for Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at 2:00 p.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported HB 4266 (Rep. Triston Cole) with recommendation and immediate effect. 2. Reported HB 5266 (Rep. Triston Cole) with recommendation and immediate effect. The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:01 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Lauwers, Sens. Horn, LaSata, Nesbitt, Barrett, Bumstead, Outman, McCann, Brinks and McMorrow, a quorum was present. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding HB 4266 and HB 5266: Joe Baumann, Michigan Electric Cooperative Association – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 4266 and HB 5266: Gavin Goetz, AT&T – Support Jennifer Greenburg, Telecom Association of Michigan – Support Bob Stewart, Frontier Communications – Support Mark Kappler, Tri-County Electric Cooperative – Support Chris Horak, Comcast – Support Reka Holley, Michigan Public Service Commission – Support Matt Groen, Michigan Cable Telecommunications Association – Support Andrew Vermeesch, Michigan Farm Bureau – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Horn to report HB 4266 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Page 1 of 2 Yeas: Chair Lauwers, Sens. Horn, LaSata, Nesbitt, Barrett, Bumstead, Outman, McCann, Brinks, and McMorrow. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for HB 4266. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Barrett to report HB 5266 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Lauwers, Sens. Horn, LaSata, Nesbitt, Barrett, Bumstead, Outman, McCann, Brinks, and McMorrow. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for HB 5266. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
