BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2426 FAX: (517) 373-2964 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 19, 2020 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Families, Seniors, and Veterans was scheduled for Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at 3:00 p.m., in the 1200 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding HB 4704, HB 4705, HB 4706, HB 4707, HB 4708 and HB 4709 (Rep. Crawford, Rep. Hall, Rep. Schroeder, Rep. Liberati, Rep. Meerman and Rep. LaGrand). The Chair called the meeting to order at 3:09 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Bizon, Sen.(s) Barrett, Johnson, Zorn, Bullock and Alexander, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Johnson to adopt the meeting minutes from February 5, 2020. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair made a motion to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Runestad was excused from the meeting. The Chair invited the Lisa McCormick, Director of the Children's Ombudsman Office to present an overview of the Children's Ombudsman Office missions and goals. At 3:39 p.m., the Chair recessed the committee. At 3:48 p.m., the Chair reconvened the committee. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding HBs 4704 - 4709: State Representative Matt Hall, Michigan House of Representatives – Support State Representative David LaGrand, Michigan House of Representatives – Support There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
