NANCY DEBOER CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, December 10, 2025 10:30 AM Room 327, House Office Building The House Committee on Education and Workforce was called to order by Chair DeBoer. The Chair requested attendance to be called: Present: Reps. DeBoer, Linting, Paquette, Fox, Kunse, St. Germaine, Pavlov, Wilson, Koleszar, Weiss and Byrnes. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Linting moved to adopt the meeting minutes from November 12, 2025. There being no objection, the motion prevailed with unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5154 before the committee: HB 5154 (Rep. Smit) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," (MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1290. Representative Smit testified in support of HB 5154. Questions and discussions followed. The following person submitted a card in opposition to HB 5154, but did not wish to speak: David Randels, representing Oakland Schools. The Chair laid HB 4836 and SB 349 before the committee: HB 4836 (Rep. Paquette) A bill to amend 1979 PA 94, entitled "The state school aid act of 1979," by amending section 104b (MCL 388.1704b), as amended by 2018 PA 265. SB 349 (Sen. Polehanki) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," by amending section 1279g (MCL 380.1279g), as amended by 2016 PA 170. Representative Paquette moved to adopt substitute (H-1) to SB 349. The motion prevailed 10-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps.
