BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2420 FAX: (517) 373-2764 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 26, 2020 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Insurance and Banking was scheduled for Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at 8:30 a.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Department of Insurance and Financial Services Overview of the Fraud Unit 2. Michigan State Police Overview of Involvement with the Fraud Unit The Chair called the meeting to order at 8:33 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Theis, Sen.(s) Lauwers, LaSata, Nesbitt, Daley, Barrett, Horn, Bullock and McMorrow, a quorum was present. The Chair made a motion to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Geiss was excused from the meeting. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Lauwers to adopt the meeting minutes from February 19, 2020. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited the following individuals from the Department of Insurance and Financial Services to present testimony regarding the Fraud Unit Karin Gyger and Randy Gregg, Department of Insurance and Financial Services – No Position The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding Lt. Tim Fitzgerald and Captain Phil Menna, Michigan State Police Fraud Investigation Unit – No Position There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
