BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-1758 FAX: (517) 373-0938 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES June 3, 2020 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Finance was scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at 12:30 p.m., in the S403 Room of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 935 (Sen. Daley) with recommendation and immediate effect. 2. Reported SB 936 (Sen. Runestad) with recommendation and immediate effect. 3. Reported SB 937 (Sen. VanderWall) with recommendation and immediate effect. The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:34 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Runestad, Sen.(s) Nesbitt, Daley, VanderWall and Chang, a quorum was present. The Chair moved to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen.(s) Bumstead and Alexander were excused from the meeting. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Nesbitt to adopt the meeting minutes from May 28, 2020. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited the following individual to present testimony regarding SB's 935-936: Dan Papineau, Michigan Chamber – Support The Chair invited the following individual to present testimony via Zoom regarding SB's 935-937: Jake Schostak, Michigan Restaurant & Lodging Association - Support The cards were read of those individuals not wishing to present testimony regarding SB's 935-937: Alexa Kramer, Grand Rapids Chamber – Support John McNamara, Michigan Restaurant & Lodging Association – Support The cards were read of those individuals not wishing to present testimony regarding SB 937: Dan Papineau, Michigan Chamber - Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. VanderWall to report SB 935 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Runestad, Sen.(s) Nesbitt, Daley, and VanderWall Nays: Sen. Chang The motion prevailed, and the bill was reported. The Chair moved to recommend immediate effect for SB 935. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Daley to report SB 936 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Runestad, Sen.(s) Nesbitt, Daley, and VanderWall Nays: Sen. Chang The motion prevailed, and the bill was reported.
