BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX: (517) 373-3932 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES June 24, 2020 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources was scheduled for Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at 8:00 a.m., in Room 403 of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding HB 4567 (Rep. O'Malley). 2. Testimony regarding HB 4568 (Rep. Wendzel). 3. Testimony regarding HB 4569 (Rep. Lilly). The Chair called the meeting to order at 8:08 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Bumstead, Outman, Schmidt, and McCann, a quorum was present. The Chair invited the committee to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bumstead to adopt the meeting minutes from June 17, 2020. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Amy Trotter from Michigan United Conservation Clubs to testify before the committee in support of HB' 4567, 4568 and 4569. She presented a report entitled "Economic Impact of Hunting, Fishing, and Trapping in Michigan" The Chair invited Dr. Bryan Burroughs to testify before the committee regarding HB' 4567, 4568 and 4569. The Chair invited Bill Winowiecki, from the Michigan Charter Boat Association to testify via Zoom in support of HB' 4567, 4568 and 4569. Member questions and discussion followed regarding official reports of abandoned, unmarked net incidents. Page 1 of 2 The Chair invited Dennis Eade of Michigan Steelhead and Salmon Fisherman's Association to testify via Zoom in support of HB' 4567, 4568 and 4569. The Chair invited Floyd Dropps of the Upper Peninsula Sportsmen's Alliance to testify via Zoom in support of HB' 4567, 4568 and 4569. The Chair invited Frank Pearson of Outdoor Marketing Products to testify via Zoom in support of HB' 4567, 4568 and 4569. Member questions and discussion followed. A card was submitted by Joe Fedewa, representing the Michigan league of Conservation Votes in support of HB' 4567, 4568 and 4569. Due to committee members departing to attend other committees, the Chair announced continued testimony would be received from the commercial fishing industry at the next Natural Resources committee hearing. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee at 9:19 a.m. Without objection, the committee was adjourned.
