BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX: (517) 373-3932 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES July 29, 2020 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources was scheduled for Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at 9:00 a.m., in Room 403 of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding HB 4792 (Rep. LaFave). The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:07 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Outman, and Schmidt a quorum was present. The Chair invited the committee to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The Chair summarized the day's agenda. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Outman to adopt the meeting minutes from July 22, 2020. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Senator Schmidt to excuse absent members. Without objection, Sen.(s) Bumstead and McCann were excused. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding HB 4972: Brad VanManen, VanManen Petroleum – Opposed Mark Griffin, Michigan Petroleum Association – Opposed Derek Sova, Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs – Opposed Kevin Selhmeyer, State Fire Marshall – Opposed Member questions and discussion followed regarding fire suppression safety protocols and best practices, and fire incident reporting data. At 9:57 a.m., the Chair recessed the committee. At 10:01 a.m., the Chair reconvened the committee. The Chair read the card of the individual not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 4792: Mark Dochery, Michigan Professional Fire Fighters – Opposed Michael McCleir, Michigan State Fireman Association – Opposed Don Biger, Michigan Fire Service Instructors – Opposed Ron Farr, Michigan Fire Inspectors Society – Opposed Stephanie Johnson, Michigan Association of Fire Chiefs – Opposed There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee at 10:24 a.m. Without objection, the committee was adjourned.
