BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX: (517) 373-3932 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES July 29, 2020 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Oversight was scheduled for Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at 12:00 noon, in room 403 of the Capitol Binsfeld. A summary of the agenda is as follows: 1. A presentation by the Michigan Office of the State Employer, regarding the Department's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:07 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Lucido, Theis, MacDonald and Irwin, a quorum was present. The Chair invited the committee to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Lucido to adopt the meeting minutes from July 23, 2020. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair introduced Director Liza Estlund Olson and invited her to address the committee. The Chair provided her with questions in advance and she read her responses. Member question and discussion followed concerning Civil Service procedures and collective bargaining agreements, numbers of staff within the OSE and number of staff working remotely, assistance to state departments and executive offices, return to work plans, leave time, federal work share program, essential and non-essential workers, lay-off's, furloughs and UIA benefits. Additional information was requested and will be provided to the members through the Chair's office. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee at 1:17 p.m. Without objection, the committee was adjourned.
