BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-0793 FAX: (517) 373-5607 **DRAFT** COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES September 24, 2020 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Advice and Consent was scheduled for Thursday, September 24, 2020, at 12:00 noon, in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. A hearing to consider the appointments of Ms. Patricia Halm and Ms. Victoria Enyart to the Michigan Tax Tribunal. The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:01 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Nesbitt, Sen.(s) Theis, McBroom and Hertel, a quorum was present. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding the appointment of Ms. Patricia Halm to the Michigan Tax Tribunal: Ms. Patricia Halm – Support At 1:25 p.m., the Chair recessed the committee. At 1:41 p.m., the Chair reconvened the committee. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding the appointment of Ms. Victoria Enyart to the Michigan Tax Tribunal: Ms. Victoria Enyart – Support Rep. Sara Cambensy – Opposition Randy Girard, Marquette Township – Opposition At 2:07 p.m., the Chair recessed the committee. At 2:09 p.m., the Chair reconvened the committee. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding Ms. Victoria Enyart to the Michigan Tax Tribunal: Rep. Beau LaFave – Opposition Rep. Greg Markkanen – Opposition Mike Johnston, Michigan Manufacturing Association – Support Page 1 of 2 Dan Papineau, Michigan Chamber of Commerce – Support Jonathan Mead, Upper Peninsula Association of County Commissioners – Opposition Stephan Currie, Michigan Association of Counties – Opposition Gerald Corkin, Marquette County Board of Commissioners – Opposition Rep. Matt Hall – Support Rep. Rachel Hood – Opposition The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. McBroom to report the appointment of Ms. Victoria Enyart to the Michigan Tax Tribunal unfavorably. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Sen.(s) McBroom. Nays: Chair Nesbitt, Sen.(s) Hertel. Pass: Sen.(s) Theis. The motion failed.
