BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-1725 FAX: (517) 373-0741 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES October 1, 2020 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Health Policy and Human Services was scheduled for Thursday, October 1, 2020, at 1:00 p.m., in the Senate Hearing Room of the Boji Tower. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SCR 32 (Sen. Lucido) with recommendation. 2. Testimony regarding HB 6159 (Rep. Hauck). 3. Testimony regarding HB 4958 (Rep. Hornberger) 4. Testimony regarding SB 1081 (Sen. Wojno). 5. Testimony regarding SB 810 (Sen. VanderWall). The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:02 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair VanderWall, Sen.(s) Johnson, LaSata, MacDonald, Theis, Brinks, Hertel, Santana, and Wojno, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. MacDonald to adopt the meeting minutes from September 24, 2020. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Sen. Lucido to summarize SCR 32. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Johnson to report SCR 32 to the floor with recommendation that it be adopted. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair VanderWall, Sen.(s) Johnson, LaSata, MacDonald, Theis, Brinks, Hertel, Santana, and Wojno Nays: None The motion prevailed and the concurrent resolution was reported. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding HB 6159: Amy Barkholz, Michigan Health and Hospital Association – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 6159: Renee Beniak, Michigan County Medical Care Facilities Council – Support Richie Farran, Health Care Association of Michigan – Support Page 1 of 2 Bill Flory, Michigan Association for Justice – Oppose Rusty Merchant, Insurance Alliance of Michigan – Support The Chair invited Sen. Wojno to summarize HB 4985 and SB 1081. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 4958 and SB 1081: Kathy Hagenian, Michigan Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence – Support Jess Averill-Hammond, Michigan Domestic and Sexual Abuse Prevention and Treatment Board – Support Sean Sorenson-Abbott, Michigan Health and Hospital Association – Support The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 810: Beverly Dehon and Vanessa Walton, InnovAge PACE – Support Stephanie Winslow, PACE Association of Michigan – Oppose Mary Naber, PACE SE MI – Oppose Mike Logan, Steve Fefyke, Roger Myers, MMH, UMRC, PVM – Oppose The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 810: Brenda Jones, Detroit City Council – Support Nancy Quarles, Oakland County Commission – Support Alisha Bell, Wayne County Commission – Support Jennifer Hall, New Destiny Christian Fellowship – Support Rev.
