- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS REP. BRIAN BEGOLE CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, January 15, 2026 9:00 AM Room 307, House Office Building The House Committee on Government Operations was called to order by Chair BeGole. The Chair requested attendance to be called: Present: Reps. BeGole, Harris, VanderWall, Fitzgerald and McFall. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Harris moved to adopt the meeting minutes from December 18, 2025. There being no objection, the motion prevailed with unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5217, HB 5218 and HB 5219 before the committee: HB 5217 (Rep. Maddock) A bill to amend 2001 PA 266, entitled "Grade A milk law of 2001," by amending sections 30 and 68 (MCL 288.500 and 288.538), as amended by 2008 PA 136. HB 5218 (Rep. Maddock) A bill to amend 2001 PA 267, entitled "Manufacturing milk law of 2001," by amending sections 111 and 136 (MCL 288.671 and 288.696), as amended by 2008 PA 147, and by adding section 70a. HB 5219 (Rep. Maddock) A bill to amend 2000 PA 92, entitled "Food law," by amending sections 1107, 1109, and 6140 (MCL 289.1107, 289.1109, and 289.6140), section 1107 as amended by 2016 PA 188, section 1109 as amended by 2018 PA 92, and section 6140 as added by 2007 PA 114, and by adding sections 4102a and 4102b. Representative Maddock, Chelsie Boles, and Ashley Armstrong testified in support of HB 5217, HB 5218 and HB 5219. Questions and discussions followed.
