BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2420 FAX: (517) 373-2764 **DRAFT** COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES November 12, 2020 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Education and Career Readiness was scheduled for Thursday, November 12, 2020, at 2:30 p.m., in the 403 Room of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 25 (Sen. McBroom). 2. Testimony regarding SB 41 (Sen. Santana). The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:31 p.m. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Theis, Sen.(s) Horn, Bumstead, Daley, Polehanki and Geiss, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Horn to adopt the meeting minutes from July 28, 2020. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair made a motion to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Runestad was excused from the meeting. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 25: Sen. Ed McBroom – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 25: Beth DeShone, Great Lakes Education Project – Support The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 41: Sen. Sylvia Santana – Support Jim Blundo, Michigan Mental Health Counselors Association – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 41: Caroline Liethen, Michigan Department of Education – Support Alan Bolter, CMH Association of Michigan – Support Page 1 of 2 There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
