BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2420 FAX: (517) 373-2764 **DRAFT** COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES December 3, 2020 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Education and Career Readiness was scheduled for Thursday, December 3, 2020, at 3:00 p.m., in the 403 Room of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 25 (S-3) (Sen. McBroom) with recommendation. The Chair called the meeting to order at 3:42 p.m. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Theis, Sen.(s) Horn, Bumstead, Daley, Polehanki and Geiss, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Horn to adopt the meeting minutes from December 1, 2020. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Horn to adopt the (S-3) version of SB 25. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Theis, Sen.(s) Horn, Bumstead, Daley, Polehanki, and Geiss. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-3) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Daley to report the (S-3) version of SB 25 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Theis, Sen.(s) Horn, Bumstead, and Daley. Nays: Sen.(s) Polehanki and Geiss. The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 25: Todd Tennis, American Federation of Teachers – Opposition The Chair made a motion to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Runestad was excused from the meeting. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
