BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX: (517) 373-3932 **DRAFT** COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES December 8, 2020 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Oversight was scheduled for Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at 10:15 a.m., in the Room 403 of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony by Chris Thomas, Senior Elections Advisor, City of Detroit. 2. Testimony from Invited Guests Regarding Election Operations at the TCF Center. The Chair called the meeting to order at 10:39 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Lucido, Theis, MacDonald and Irwin, a quorum was present. Chair McBroom invited the committee to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Chair McBroom welcomed Sen.(s) Santana to the meeting. Chair McBroom summarized the days agenda and gave opening comments. The Chair informed the committee that all testifiers will be asked to take an oath to swear or affirm that the testimony they give will be the truth. Chair McBroom invited Chris Thomas, Senior Elections Advisor for the City of Detroit to give the committee a presentation, under oath, regarding his observations relative to absentee ballot counting at the TCF Center. Member questions and discussion followed. The Chair recessed the committee from 10:39 a.m. to 10:42 a.m. Chair McBroom invited the following invited guests to present testimony, under oath, regarding their experiences during the absentee ballot counting at the TCF Center: Tim Griffin Phil Mayor Sofia Nelson Edith Lee Payne Page 1 of 2 Paul Driscoll Joseph Zimmerman Sommer Woods Dorian Tyus The Chair recessed the committee from 1:54 p.m. to 2:05 p.m. Continued: Chair McBroom invited the following invited guests to present testimony, under oath, regarding their experiences during the absentee ballot counting at the TCF Center: David Jaffee Mary Ellen Gurewitz Erica Peresman Member questions and discussion followed the individual testifiers. The Chair invited testifiers to send written testimony if available. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair McBroom entertained a motion by Sen.
