BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2426 FAX: (517) 373-2964 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES January 27, 2021 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Families, Seniors, and Veterans was scheduled for Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at 3:00 p.m., in the 403 Room of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Adopted the 2021-2022 Families, Seniors, and Veterans Committee Rules. 2. Testimony regarding SB 10 (Sen. Theis). The Chair called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Bizon, Sen.(s) Runestad, Johnson, Zorn, Bullock and Alexander, a quorum was present. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Bullock to adopt the committee rules for the 2021-2022 legislative session. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Bizon, Sen.(s) Runestad, Johnson, Zorn, Bullock, and Alexander. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the rules were adopted. The Chairman invited Senator Theis to summarize Senate Bill 10. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 10: Joseph Riker, Livingston County Veterans Services Board – Support Fred Schaible, Department of Military and Veterans Affairs – Support Mark Sutton, American Legion – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 10: Meghan Keit-Corrion, Michigan Association of Counties – Support The Chair made a motion to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Barrett was excused from the meeting. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
