BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX: (517) 373-3932 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES January 28, 2021 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Oversight was scheduled for Thursday, January 28, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., in the Room 403 of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony by Rebecca Bahar-Cook, Ingham County Board of Canvassers. 2. Testimony by Monica Palmer, Wayne County Board of Canvassers. The Chair called the meeting to order at 11:42 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Theis, Bizon, and Irwin, a quorum was present. Chair McBroom invited the committee to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Theis to adopt the meeting minutes from January 26, 2021. Without objection, the meeting minutes were adopted. Chair McBroom summarized the days agenda and gave opening comments. Chair McBroom welcomed Rebecca Bahar-Cook, Chair, Ingham County Board of Canvassers. Chair McBroom administered the Oath to Ms. Bahar-Cook. Chair McBroom invited Ms. Bahar-Cook to present testimony regarding the Ingham County Board of Canvassers and the 2020 election. Member questions and discussion followed. Chair McBroom welcomed Monica Palmer, from the Wayne County Board of Canvassers. Chair McBroom administered the Oath to Ms. Palmer. Chair McBroom invited Ms. Palmer to present testimony regarding the Wayne County Board of Canvassers and the 2020 election. Member questions and discussion followed. The Chair brought up the Office of the Auditor General, Performance Audit Report: COVID-19 Expenditures, State of Michigan, January 2021, #000-2000-20C and entertained a motion by Sen. Theis to refer said audit to the Senate Committee on Appropriations. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Theis, Bizon, and Irwin Nays: None The motion prevailed and the audit was referred. There being no further business before the committee, Chair McBroom entertained a motion by Sen. Theis to adjourn the committee at 1:15 p.m. Without objection, the committee was adjourned.
