BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX: (517) 373-3932 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 09, 2021 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Oversight was scheduled for Tuesday, February 09, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., in Room 403 of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding Office of the Auditor General Follow-Up Report on Prior Audit Recommendations, Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, Michigan Veteran Homes Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, January 2020, #511-0170-18F 2. Testimony regarding Office of the Auditor General Performance Audit Report, Michigan Integrated Tax Administration System, Department of Treasury and Department of Technology, Management, and Budget, March 2020, #271-0595-19 The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:03 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Theis, Bizon, and Irwin, a quorum was present. Chair McBroom invited the committee to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Chair McBroom summarized the days agenda and gave opening comments. Chair McBroom welcomed Mary Jo Koschay, Office of the Auditor General Audit Division Administrator to the committee and invited her to present testimony regarding the Follow-up Report on Prior Audit Recommendations, Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, Michigan Veterans Homes Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. Chair McBroom welcomed Michael Ventura, Office of the Auditor General Audit Manager to the committee and invited him to present testimony regarding the material and reportable conditions outlined in the follow-up audit report. Member questions followed. The Committee requested additional information be provided. At 2:17 p.m., during Mr. Ventura's testimony, Sen. Bizon left meeting to attend another committee hearing. Chair McBroom welcomed Anne Zerbe, Executive Director Michigan Veterans Homes and invited her to present testimony regarding the material and reportable conditions outlined in the follow-up audit report. Member questions followed. The Committee requested additional information be provided. At 2:37 p.m., during Ms. Zerbe's testimony, Sen. Bizon returned to the meeting. Ms. Zerbe's testimony and members questions continued. The Chair brought up the second audit on the days agenda, the Performance Audit Report of the Michigan Integrated Tax Administration System, Department of Treasury and Department of Technology, Management, and Budget. The Chair welcomed Melissa Schuiling, Office of the Auditor General Audit Division Administrator to the committee and invited her to provide testimony regarding the audit. The Chair welcomed Keith Edwards, Office of the Auditor General Audit Supervisor to the committee and invited him to provide testimony regarding the objectives, material and reportable findings and recommendations within the audit. Member questions followed. The Chair welcomed Bree Anderson, Legislative Liaison, Department of Technology, Management and Budget, Aaron Keel, Department of Treasury and Ryan McElhone, Agency Security Officer for Department of Treasury to the committee. The Chair invited Mr. Keel to provide opening comments. Ms. Anderson offered additional opening comments. Mr. McElhone provided testimony regarding the Department's remediation timeline and status of the material and reportable findings within the audit. Member questions and discussion followed. The committee requested additional information be provided. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Theis to adopt the meeting minutes from February 2, 2021. Without objection the meeting minutes were adopted. There being no further business before the committee, Chair McBroom entertained a motion by Sen.
