BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2426 FAX: (517) 373-2964 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES March 3, 2021 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Families, Seniors, and Veterans was scheduled for Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at 3:00 p.m., in the 403 Room of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 157 (S-1) (Bizon) with recommendation. 2. Reported SB 158 (S-1) (Hollier) with recommendation. The Chair called the meeting to order at 3:02 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Bizon, Sen.(s) Barrett, Runestad, Johnson, Zorn and Bullock, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Barrett to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 157. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Bizon, Sen.(s) Barrett, Runestad, Johnson, Zorn, and Bullock. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Zorn to adopt the meeting minutes from February 24, 2021. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Johnson to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 158. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Bizon, Sen.(s) Barrett, Runestad, Johnson, Zorn, and Bullock. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Runestad to report the (S-1) version of SB 157 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Bizon, Sen.(s) Barrett, Runestad, Johnson, Zorn, and Bullock. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Zorn to report the (S-1) version of SB 158 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Bizon, Sen.(s) Barrett, Runestad, Johnson, Zorn, and Bullock. Page 1 of 2 Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair read in the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 157 (S-1) and 158 (S-1) Alex Houseman, Michigan Realtors Association – Support Greg George, Mackinac Center for Public Policy – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bullock to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Alexander was excused from the meeting. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
