BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-6920 FAX: (517) 373-2751 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES March 4, 2021 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety was scheduled for Thursday, March 4, 2021, at 9:05 a.m., in Room 403 of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follow: 1. Testimony regarding SB 14 (Sen. Zorn). 2. Testimony regarding SB 15 (Sen. Zorn). The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:05 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Victory, Sen.(s) VanderWall, Johnson, Runestad, Chang and Irwin, a quorum was present. The Chair summarized the agenda for the committee. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. VanderWall to adopt the meeting minutes from February 24, 2021. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Shane Preston, of Sen. Zorn's office to summarize SB's 14 and 15. The Chair invited the following individual to present testimony regarding SB's 14 and 15: Allison Arnold, Monroe County Prosecutors Office – Support. At 9:13 a.m., Sen. Barrett entered the meeting. The cards were read of those individuals not wishing to present testimony regarding SB's 14 and 15: Kimberly Buddin, American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan – Oppose. Peter Cunningham, State Bar of Michigan – Support. Brandon Lanyon, Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan – Support. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee. Without objection, the committee was adjourned at 9:28 a.m. Date adopted by committee: 03/11/2021
