BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7708 FAX: (517) 373-1450 **DRAFT** COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES April 20, 2021 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Energy and Technology was scheduled for Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., in the Senate Hearing Room, Ground Floor, Boji Tower. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SR 42 ( Lauwers) with recommendation. 2. Testimony on Line 5 by Whitney Gravelle, President, Bay Mills Indian Community The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:02 p.m.. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Lauwers, Sen.(s) Horn, LaSata, Nesbitt, Barrett, Bumstead, Bizon, Schmidt, McCann, Brinks and Bullock, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Horn to adopt the meeting minutes from April 13, 2021. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SR 42: James Shaw, IBEW Michigan State Conference – Support James Harrison, Utility Workers Union of America – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SR 42: Dan Dundas, MI Electric and Gas Association – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Horn to report SR 42 to the floor with recommendation that it be adopted. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Lauwers, Sen.(s) Horn, LaSata, Nesbitt, Barrett, Bumstead, Bizon, Schmidt, McCann, Brinks, and Bullock. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the resolution was reported. The Chair invited Whitney Gravelle, President of the Bay Mills Indian Community to present on Line 5 Page 1 of 2 The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bumstead to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. McMorrow was excused from the meeting.
