BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7708 FAX: (517) 373-1450 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES May 18, 2021 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Energy and Technology was scheduled for Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., in the Senate Hearing Room, Ground Floor, Boji Tower. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SR 53 (Sen. Bizon) with recommendation. 2. Presentation from Doyle Beneby, CEO - Midland Cogeneration Venture The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:01 p.m.. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Lauwers, Sen.(s) Horn, LaSata, Nesbitt, Barrett, Bumstead, Bizon, Schmidt, McCann, Brinks, McMorrow and Bullock, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Horn to adopt the meeting minutes from May 11, 2021. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bizon to report SR 53 to the floor with recommendation that it be adopted. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Lauwers, Sen.(s) Horn, LaSata, Nesbitt, Barrett, Bumstead, Bizon, and Schmidt. Nays: Sen.(s) McCann, Brinks, McMorrow, and Bullock. The motion prevailed and the resolution was reported. The Chair read in the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SR 53: Mike Johnston, Michigan Manufacturers Association – Support Charles Weaver – Opposed Gary Owen, TC Energy - Support The Chair invited Doyle Beneby, CEO of Midland Cogeneration Venture to do a presentation. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
