BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX: (517) 373-3932 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES May 19, 2021 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources was scheduled for Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at 8:30 a.m., in Room 403 of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follow: 1. Reported HB 4050 (Rep. Cherry) with recommendation and immediate effect. The Chair called the meeting to order at 8:42 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Bumstead, Outman, Schmidt and McCann, a quorum was present. The Chair invited the committee to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bumstead to adopt the meeting minutes from March 24, 2021. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair brought up HB 4050, and invited Rep. Cherry to summarize the bill. Member questions followed. The Chair acknowledged Craig Brunet of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources was available on Zoom to answer questions. The members did not have any questions. The Chair invited the following individual to present testimony regarding HB 4050: Ian Fitzgerald, Michigan United Conservation Clubs – Support. Member questions followed. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to present testimony regarding HB 4050: Craig Brunet, Michigan Department of Natural Resources – Support. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bumstead to report HB 4050 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Bumstead, Outman, Schmidt and McCann Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Schmidt to recommend immediate effect for HB 4050. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair entertained a motion by Sen. McCann to adjourn the committee. Without objection, the committee was adjourned at 8:48 a.m. Date adopted by committee: 05/26/21
