BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX: (517) 373-3932 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES May 25, 2021 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Oversight was scheduled for Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., in Room 403 of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 458 (S-2) (Sen. Barrett) with recommendation. 2. Testimony regarding Office of the Auditor General, Performance Audit Report, Use of Warranties, Michigan Department of Transportation, March 2021, #591-0320-20. The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:03 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Bizon and Irwin, a quorum was present. Chair McBroom invited the committee to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Chair McBroom entertained a motion by Sen. Bizon to adopt the meeting minutes from May 18, 2021. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair brought up SB 458, and the (S-2) substitute. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bizon to adopt the (S-2) version of SB 458. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Bizon and Irwin Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-2) was adopted The Chair invited Sen. Barrett to summarize the bill. Member questions and discussion followed. The Chair brought up the Office of the Auditor General, Performance Audit Report, Use of Warranties, Michigan Department of Transportation, March 2021, #591-0320-20. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding the Office of the Auditor General, Performance Audit Report, Use of Warranties, Michigan Department of Transportation, March 2021, #591- 0320-20. - Bryan Weiler, OAG Audit Administrator - Chad Monger, OAG Audit Supervisor Member questions and discussion followed. . At 1:30 p.m., Sen. Theis entered the committee. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Theis to report SB 458 (S-2) to the floor with recommendation that the bill pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Theis and Bizon Nays: Sen. Irwin The motion prevailed and the bill was reported The Chair resumed testimony regarding the Office of the Auditor General, Performance Audit Report, Use of Warranties, Michigan Department of Transportation, March 2021, #591-0320-20 with the following presenters: - Gregg Brunner, P.E. Director, MDOT Bureau of Construction & Field Services - Tony Kratofil, P.E. MDOT Chief Engineer and operating Officer Member questions and discussion followed. There being no further business before the committee, Chair McBroom entertained a motion by Sen. Irwin to adjourn the committee at 2:03 p.m. Without objection, the committee was adjourned.
