BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX: (517) 373-3932 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES June 2, 2021 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources was scheduled for Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at 8:30 a.m., in Room 403 of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follow: 1. Reported SB 486 (Sen. McBroom) with recommendation. The Chair called the meeting to order at 8:35 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Bumstead, Outman, Schmidt and McCann, a quorum was present. The Chair invited the committee to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bumstead to adopt the meeting minutes from May 26, 2021. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair brought up SB 486 and summarized the bill. Member questions followed. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 486: Bee Friedlander, Attorneys for Animals – oppose. Member questions followed. David Johnson, Upper Peninsula Sportsmen's Association – support. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to present testimony regarding SB 486: Molly Tamulevich, The Humane Society of the United States – oppose. Nancy Warren, Self – oppose. Jared Hautamaki, Self – oppose. Thomas Gilpin, Self – oppose. Julie Dye, Self – oppose. Jordan Hoover, Hunter Nation – support. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bumstead to report SB 486 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Bumstead, Outman, and Schmidt Nays: Sen. McCann The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair entertained a motion by Sen. McCann to adjourn the committee. Without objection, the committee was adjourned at 8:57 a.m. Date adopted by committee: 06/09/2021
