BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX: (517) 373-3932 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES June 8, 2021 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Oversight was scheduled for Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding HB 4467 (Rep. Lightner). 2. Testimony regarding HB 4468 (Rep. Anthony). 3. Removed from the agenda SB 449 (Sen. McBroom). The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:02 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Theis, Bizon and Irwin, a quorum was present. Chair McBroom invited the committee to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Chair McBroom entertained a motion by Sen. Theis to adopt the meeting minutes from May 25, 2021. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair brought up HB's 4467 – 4468, and invited Rep. Lightner to summarize the bills. Member questions and discussion followed. The Chair recessed the committee from 2:39 p.m. to 2:40 p.m. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding HB's 4467 – 4468: Kyle Kaminski, Michigan Department of Corrections – Oppose. Member questions followed. Lynn Gorski, MDOC Wellness Program Manager – Oppose. Member questions followed. Ray Sholtz, Michigan Corrections Organization – Support. Tim Greimel, AFSCME via Zoom – Support. Member questions followed. The Chair announced that SB 449 was removed from the day's agenda. There being no further business before the committee, Chair McBroom entertained a motion by Sen. Irwin to adjourn the committee at 3:17 p.m. Without objection, the committee was adjourned.
