BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX: (517) 373-3932 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES June 9, 2021 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources was scheduled for Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at 8:30 a.m., in Room 403 of the Capitol Building. The agenda summary is as follow: 1. Reported SB 251 (S-1) (Sen. McBroom) with recommendation and immediate effect. The Chair called the meeting to order at 8:44 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Bumstead, Outman, Schmidt and McCann, a quorum was present. The Chair invited the committee to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Schmidt to adopt the meeting minutes from June 2, 2021. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair brought up SB 251 and summarized the (S-1) version. Member questions followed. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Outman to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 251. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Bumstead, Outman, Schmidt and McCann Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. . The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 251 (S-1): Craig Brunet, MI Department of Natural Resources, via Zoom – Neutral. Member questions followed. Jim Dexter, MDNR Fisheries Division via Zoom – Neutral. Member questions followed. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to present testimony regarding SB 251 (S-1): Amy Trotter, Michigan United Conservation Clubs – Neutral Scott Everett, Commercial Fishing - Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bumstead to report SB 251 (S-1) to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Bumstead, Outman, Schmidt and McCann Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair moved to recommend immediate effect for SB 251 (S-1). Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Outman to adjourn the committee. Without objection, the committee was adjourned at 8:53 a.m. Date adopted by committee: June 30, 2021
