BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-1636 FAX: (517) 373-1453 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES June 16, 2021 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Elections was scheduled for Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 302 (S-1) (Sen. LaSata) with recommendation and immediate effect. 2. Reported SB 8 (S-1) (Sen. Wojno) with recommendation and immediate effect. 3. Reported SB 311 (S-1) (Sen. Johnson) with recommendation and immediate effect. 4. Reported SB 277 (S-2) (Sen. MacDonald) with recommendation and immediate effect. The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:02 p.m. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Johnson, Sen.(s) McBroom, VanderWall, and Wojno, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. McBroom to adopt the meeting minutes from June 2, 2021. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair offered an (S-1) version of SB 302. The Chair invited Sen. LaSata to summarize the (S-1) version of SB 302. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. McBroom to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 302. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Johnson, Sen.(s) McBroom, VanderWall, and Wojno Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. McBroom to report the (S-1) version of SB 302 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Johnson, Sen.(s) McBroom and VanderWall Nays: None Pass: Sen. Wojno The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. Page 1 of 3 The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for SB 302 (S-1). Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. Sen. Wojno offered an (S-1) version of SB 8. The Chair summarized the (S-1) version of SB 8. The Chair offered, and summarized, an (S-1) version of SB 311. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Wojno to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 8. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Johnson, Sen.(s) McBroom, VanderWall, and Wojno Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted.
