BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-1725 FAX: (517) 373-0741 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES June 24, 2021 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Health Policy and Human Services was scheduled for Thursday, June 24, 2021, at 12:00 noon, in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 412 (S-2) (Sen. Hertel) with recommendation. 2. Testimony regarding HB 4348 (Rep. Calley). The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:17 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair VanderWall, Sen.(s) Bizon, Johnson, LaSata, MacDonald, Theis, Brinks, Hertel, Santana, and Wojno, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bizon to adopt the meeting minutes from June 17, 2021. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. Sen. Hertel offered an (S-2) version of SB 412. The Chair invited Sen. Hertel to summarize the (S-2) version of SB 412. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Brinks to adopt the (S-2) version of SB 412. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair VanderWall, Sen.(s) Bizon, Johnson, LaSata, MacDonald, Theis, Brinks, Hertel, Santana, and Wojno Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-2) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Brinks to report the (S-2) version of SB 412 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair VanderWall, Sen.(s) Bizon, Johnson, LaSata, MacDonald, Theis, Brinks, Hertel, Santana, and Wojno Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding HB 4348: Page 1 of 2 Jonathan Grice, Home Town Pharmacy – Support Larry Lewis, CVS Health – Oppose Miguel Rodriquez, American Pharmacies – Support Due to time constraints, the following individuals were unable to present testimony regarding HB 4348: John Gross, Michigan Independent Pharmacy Association – Support Eddie Garcia, SpartanNash – Support Dominick Pallone and Christine Shearer, Michigan Association of Health Plans – Oppose Scott Pace, Arab American Pharmacist Association – Support Mark Cook and Tim Antonelli, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan – Oppose Peter Matz, Food Industry Association – Support The following cards were turned in of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding HB 4348: Michael Wright, American Pharmacies – Support Thomas Schatz, Council for Citizens Against Government Waste – Oppose John Covello, Independent Pharmacy Cooperative – Support There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
